MMA fans can start counting down the days. Alex Pereira, widely known as Poatan, is set to defend his light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 307. The highly anticipated fight will take place on October 5th at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, and it promises to be one of the most thrilling bouts of the year.
The announcement was made by UFC President Dana White via the organization’s social media, sparking excitement among fans. Poatan’s challenger will be the experienced American fighter Khalil Rountree Jr., who at 34 years old, holds a record of 13 wins, 5 losses, and 1 No Contest. Rountree is coming off an impressive knockout victory over Anthony Smith in December 2023 and now has the chance to challenge the champion.
On the other hand, 37-year-old Alex Pereira is one of the most feared names in the light heavyweight division. With a record of 11 wins and just two losses, Poatan has proven his knockout power, successfully defending his world title for the second time by defeating Jíri Prochazka at UFC 303.
In addition to the main event, UFC 307 will also feature a bantamweight title fight, where Raquel Pennington will defend her title against Juliana Peña.
